    Today October 20, 2024 is celebrated as world statistics day. It is important for every one's life because without maths there is nothing in this world. Today we are going to see the benefits and history of statistics day celebration and its importance.

HISTORY OF STATISTICS DAY

    The first World Statistics Day was celebrated on October 20, 2010, following a resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly. World Statistics Day is an international celebration held every five years to highlight the significance of statistics in shaping societies, improving lives, and driving informed decision-making. Statistics are often referred to as the backbone of modern governance and economics.


CREATION OF PUBLIC AWARENESS 

    The main objective of celebrating Statistics Day is creation of public awareness, especially among the younger generation, on the role and importance of statistics in socio-economic planning and policy formulation for development of the country.

BASIC FACTS 

    Basics of statistics include the measure of central tendency and the measure of dispersion. The central tendencies are mean, median and mode and dispersions comprise variance and standard deviation.
