National Space Day will be observed on August 23, 2024. This year will mark the first celebration of this day. National Space Day is also known as ISRO Day.
The Chandrayaan-3 mission was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The mission's success was celebrated as National space day and With the successful landing of Vikram Lander and pragyan rover as the part of chandrayaan 3.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared 2024 National Space Day in India to honour the mission's momentous accomplishment. On August 23, 2024, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) made history by successfully landing a spacecraft near the lunar south pole, making India the fourth nation to land on the moon.
The day aims to inspire people of all ages about the wonders of space, highlight the achievements of space exploration, and encourage interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.
The theme of this year's National Space Day is
"Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: India's Space Saga."
This theme reflects India's extraordinary journey in space exploration and its impact on society.
