CONSTITUTION DAY OF INDIA 

    India observes Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, on November 26 each year.This year we are celebrating 75th constitution day of India.

HISTORY OF INDIAN CONSTITUTION  

    M.N.Roy was the first person to suggest that independent India needs constitution in 1934 and so the constituent assembly was formed in 1946. Our constitution came into force on January 26, 1950.

MAKING OF INDIAN CONSTITUTION

    Constituent Assembly was formed in December 1946, with Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, as its chairman

    The Assembly had 389 members, including prominent leaders like Dr BR Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Patel. The Assembly met for the first time on December 9, 1946, and was presided over by Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Ambedkar presented the draft in the Constituent Assembly in 1948. The Constitution of India is the largest written constitution in the world.

DRAFTING COMMITTEE 

    Drafting committee is formed on August 29,1947 under the Leadership of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.He was the FATHER OF INDIAN CONSTITUTION.The committee consists of seven members they are Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, N. Gopalaswamy Ayyangar, Alladi krishnaswamy Ayyar, Dr. KM Munshi, Syed Mohammad Saadullah, N. Madhava Rao, T.T. Krishnamachari.


    The drafting committee took less than six months to prepare it's draft. The whole constitution took period of 2 years, 11month and 18 days to complete. The total expenditure incurred on making the constitution amounted to Rs.64 lakhs.The constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949 contained a preamble, 395 articles and 8 schedules.

    Dr BR Ambedkar, the chairman of its Drafting Committee, is considered the chief architect of the Indian Constitution which provides a comprehensive and dynamic framework to guide and govern the country, keeping in view her unique social, cultural and religious diversity.

What is the procedure of Constitution?

    The procedure for the amendment of the Constitution as laid down in Article 368 is as follows: An amendment of the Constitution can be initiated only by the introduction of a bill for the purpose in either House of Parliament (Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha) and not in the state legislatures.
