WORLD BRAILLE DAY CELEBRATION ( why this day celebrated, meaning of Braille , what language is Braille and theme of the year)

                   WORLD BRAILLE DAY

Today is Braille day. World Braille Day is an international day on 4 January and celebrates awareness of the importance of braille as a means of communication in the full realization of the human rights for blind and visually impaired people.

Why is World Braille Day celebrated?

Celebrating the legacy of Louis Braille, World Braille Day highlights the importance of accessibility, literacy, and inclusion for visually impaired individuals, fostering awareness and advocating equal opportunities.

Why is it called braille?

Braille is named after its creator, Louis Braille, a Frenchman who lost his sight as a result of a childhood accident.

What language is braille?

Braille is not a language. Rather, it is a code by which many languages such as English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, and dozens of others may be written and read. Braille is used by thousands of people all over the world in their native languages, and provides a means of literacy for all.

Why does braille have 6 dots?

Also, the six dot cell configuration in Braille can easily fit underneath one finger pad. This means you can read the entire letter or even contracted word with just one finger pad.

Theme of the year

The theme for 2025 World Braille Day is Celebrating Accessibility and Inclusion for the Visually Impaired.
