NATIONAL VOTERS DAY
National Voters' Day is celebrated annually in India on 25 January to mark the foundation day of Election Commission of India. It established by the Government of India in order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process, and first celebrated 25 January 2011.

History of the day
The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh-led government in 2011 decided to mark the special day to focus on enrolling young voters and give them their voter identity cards (EPIC).
Dedicated to the voters of the nation, National Voters' Day promotes the enrollment of new voters, the youth, who have recently become eligible. Across the country, new voters are honored and presented with their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) during NVD ceremonies.
Facts of the day
The Election Commission of India is celebrating its 75th year of service. President Droupadi Murmu will present awards at an event in New Delhi. National Voters' Day encourages new voters, particularly youth, to participate in elections. This year's theme is 'Nothing like voting, I vote for sure'.
Significance of the day
Let us tell you that earlier the eligibility age of the voter was 21 years but in 1988 it was lowered to 18 years. The Sixty-First Amendment Bill of 1998 lowered the voter's eligibility age in India.
