                     NATIONAL TREE DAY 

     National Tree Day is celebrated on the last Sunday in July. It is celebrated in conjunction with School Tree Day on the last Friday of July. This year, it falls on July 27. National Tree Day is Australia’s largest community tree-planting and nature care event. Around 300,000 people volunteer this day to engage in environmental activities that educate Australians about the world around them.

Why Is National Tree Day Celebrated?

    Trees are celebrated for many reasons. They help fight climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, providing homes for wildlife, and offering shade that cools our streets.

     Trees also improve air quality, reduce soil erosion, and can even boost our mental health. By planting and caring for trees, we contribute to a healthier, more sustainable environment.



What is the national tree of India?

     The national tree of India is the Banyan tree, scientifically known as Ficus benghalensis. It was officially recognized as the national tree in 1950. The Banyan tree is notable for its sprawling branches and aerial roots that can extend and form new trunks, allowing the tree to grow and regenerate over long periods, making it a symbol of longevity and resilience in Indian culture.

     The theme for National Tree Day in 2025 is "Forests and Food", which emphasizes the vital connection between forests and global food security. This theme highlights how forests are crucial for sustainable food production and overall well-being.
